Project description

The Electronic Literature Collection, Volume 1, is an anthology of 60 new and recent works of electronic literature, published simultaneously on CD-ROM and on the web at collection.eliterature.org.  Presenting a broad overview of electronic literature, the ELC includes hypertext fiction, kinetic poetry, generative and combinatory forms, network writing, codework, 3D, and narrative animations.  Contributors are premier authors and artists from the USA, Canada, UK, France, German and Australia.  Each work is framed with brief editorial and author descriptions, and tagged with descriptive keywords.  The works are offered under a Creative Commons license that allows them to be freely accessed and disseminated, provided they are not modified or sold for profit.

Edited by N. Katherine Hayles, Nick Montfort, Scott Rettberg, and Stephanie Strickland, the ELC runs cross-platform.

Sponsored by the UCLA English Department and College of Letters and Science; Center for Programs in Contemporary Writing at the University of Pennsylvania; Division of Arts and Humanities, the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey; ELINOR:  Electronic Literature of the Nordic Countries; MITH: Maryland Institute for Technology in the Humanities at the University of Maryland; and the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Minnesota.
